Cricket v Strathallan

Two teams took on Strathallan this week with the 1st XI playing at home and the Colts playing at Strathallan. The U9s played Cargilfield in Edinburgh – please see separate match report.)

1st XI –  What a performance!! The boys played brilliantly to secure their second win of the season. Cosmo M carried his bat and scored a wonderful 45 including a shot of the season on drive! His opening partner Cosmo GC shared an opening stand of 59 with him before Finn S batted superbly to add a further 57 with Cosmo M. The team ended 139-3 from 20 overs and knew that with some tight bowling this game was there for the taking. Tight bowling and excellent fielding was certainly on display and Strathallan were restricted to 32-8 in their overs – victory by a whopping 107 runs! Everyone bar the keeper bowled including a rare outing for our captain, Hamish L, who turned his arm over almost taking a wicket. Some excellent catches and some accurate bowling was certainly to be seen and Jacob MP took two wickets. Well done to the whole team for a fantastic day! (Mr David Knock)

Colts –  The fixture against Strathallan’s mixture of U12, U11 and U10 players has always been a competitive one and I am delighted to report that every area of our game improved for our first away match. A couple of top order batsmen failed to get started but the captain, Jack H, stayed in for 51 minutes, scoring 32 off 45 balls, and made an excellent partnership with Joel D. We were 100 for 7 after our 20 overs. Jack and Jamie set a high standard with the opening 8 overs, taking 3 wickets and conceding no extras. Strathallan’s 5th batsman threatened to race them towards our total but outstanding fielding kept them short, in particular from Jamie, Gabin and Curtis. We won by 12 runs and it was great to see so many things we have worked on being put into practice with such enthusiasm and GRIT. Ice creams on the way back were a bonus (thank you, Mr LM) but well deserved! (Mr John Gore)
