Girls Touch Rugby vs Belhaven

On Saturday 18th November, the Ardvreck U13 girls’ had a festival of Rugby which included their first ever touch Rugby match against Belhaven. The girls were very excited although were a little disappointed it was not full contact! The team was captained by Abi C who led all the girls down to the pitches to get warmed up. Our wonderful referee Mr Smith then did some extra warm up ball skills with them before they got started. To begin with, it was a free-for-all with no strict rules, but as the game progressed and the girls became more confident and looked much stronger. Smudge (Mr Smith) started introducing scrums, line outs and then off side. All of the girls were thoroughly enjoying the experience. Ardvreck was the first team to score a try, and the celebrations were crazy. With some encouraging side line support from Miss Beamish, Miss Macleod, Mrs Kinge, Ardvreck children and parents, the girls were ready to score more tries! Unfortunately, the girls lost 3 tries to 2 but each one came off the pitch asking to play more rugby! It was an incredible first experience and hopefully more touch rugby matches to come for the girls in the future! Well done to all U13 girls. (Miss Beamish)
