U11 Girls Hockey- St Marys 22/11/17

An eclectic mix of girls, from various forms, gathered on the gravel in the tipping rain and received a quick lesson on positioning under the Finlay veranda until their opposition, St Mary’s, arrived. During the first half, the girls were on a steep learning curve. With plenty of coaching and encouragement from the side line, the girls listened to advice and towards half time, despite being 4 goals down and one player down (Daisy M), they were starting to gel together as a team. After refreshing oranges and a team talk, the girls strode confidently back onto the pitch and began to play their socks off! With much smoother passing and greater awareness, the level of hockey looked quite different from the first half and the girls managed to secure a draw in the second half. A special mention should go to our goalie extraordinaire, Isla F, and to the P twins for bravely rising to the occasion! (Mrs Kinge)
