U9 Girls Hockey- Cargilfield 29/11/17

On Wednesday 29th November the U9 girls travelled to Cargilfield, in the freezing cold conditions to play their last hockey match of the season. After a lot of loud singing on the bus, we got off and started to warm up. Kiki P who captained the team lead the warm up before getting a ball moving. It was cold so they kept running around to keep warm. Kiki P lost the toss and so Cargilfield selected to have first centre pass. The girls started out slowly and tended to be ‘Bee’s round a honey pot’ all trying to get the ball at the same time. After Cargilfield scored a few goals the girls realised they needed to spread out. This was a smaller pitch then they are used to, so they found it difficult. After the first 8 minutes the girls started working together, pushing the ball wide and getting it up to Kiki who was staying nice and high. Kiki then got 2 goals before half time making the score 4-2 to Cargilfield. After a half time talk with Miss Burling and I, and a change to the team the girls were back on for the final 12 minutes. They fought hard and started helping each other out more. Kiki P and Jemima B working very well together up front, Amelia P doing an excellent job at the back keeping Cargilfield out as much as possible. After a tough last half the final score was 6-4 to Cargilfield. Well done to the girls for an excellent game and season. (Miss Beamish)
