Rounders- U13 Girls Kilgraston Tournament

On Wednesday the U13 girls’ took part in the annual Kilgraston Rounders Tournament. After an excellent training session on Tuesday the girls’ were ready to go. Having woken to the pouring rain there was a concern that the tournament would not go ahead, but thankfully this was not the case and the tournament was taking part on their astro. This was a different game, the ball ran much faster, the ball bounced and so there was lots of tactics to take into consideration. In our section we had Cargilfield, Fettes, Loretto and Strathallan. The girls played out of their skin throughout the whole day with some excellent fielding, accurate passing and some very impressive batting, it was the best I had seen the girls play. Connie as captain was getting the team to communicate with each other. Although we did not manage to win a game (however not losing any game by more than 4 rounders) they were outstanding and thoroughly enjoyed the whole day. It was finally finished off with a delicious BBQ which they all enjoyed before heading back to school. Miss Macleod and I decided we would choose three players of the tournament. One for being an all round star which went to Hortense, One fielder of the tournament which was Isla for stepping up to the position of backstop having never played the position before, and finally to batter of the tournament which went to India for her countless whole rounders that she scored. A huge well done to all the girls for a fantastic day. Well done. (Miss Beamish)
