Cricket- Colts A v Strathallan

The sun beat down on the Ardvreck Colts A team as we prepared for our first home match of the season.  Our opponents from Strathallan soon arrived and went in to bat first.  Some accurate and quick-paced bowling from Ellis A and Robert F helped to keep the runs down but it was Kerr B who was particularly deadly in his spell, taking 4 wickets in spectacular fashion!  Special mention should also go to some sharp fielding from Harrison M, Jamie S and Freddy F amongst others.  Eventually, Strathallan finished their 20 overs on 69 – 9.  A short break for match tea followed and then Ardvreck went in to bat, knowing that they had an achievable target to reach.  The openers started cautiously and credit should be given to the visitors who fielded with confidence, pressuring the batsmen to remain at their wickets rather than tease out the odd sneaky run.  Eventually, Robert F was caught and bowled, Ewan FL was run out as was captain Ellis A.  Strathallan’s total was eventually surpassed after 17 overs and the boys shook hands, happy to have now won two matches in a row.
