Ardvreck Boarding School
Scotland’s Leading Preparatory Boarding School
Ardvreck is widely recognized as Scotland’s leading boarding and prep school. Our students have the opportunity to benefit from a high standard of education, an all-round learning environment, and extra curricular activities set in the stunning rural Perthshire countryside.
At Ardvreck, we aim to uncover the gem within each pupil who enrols with us. We provide the perfect environment in which pupils can thrive; becoming “can do” students who excel in future education.
We aim to create a family environment which encourages responsibility, tolerance and understanding of others and a growing sense of independence. The boarding experience promotes initiative and helps to develop leadership skills. We encourage all children to embrace and enjoy the benefits boarding can offer, and offer the opportunity for day students to make the transition to boarding if they desire.
An Exceptional Boarding Experience for Children from 3 to 13
We have three distinctive boarding houses with an outstanding provision of pastoral care. Our holistic approach to boarding helps children to settle easily and quickly and fully prepares each child for their transition to senior school. Weekends are packed with activities and socialisation.
Ardvreck is unique in having two purpose built boarding houses for our senior pupils. All the houses are run by a live-in Housemistress or Housemaster. Junior pupils board in Junior House until the age of 11, after which they transfer to Mac House (boys aged 11-13) or Erskine House (girls aged 11-13).
All Ardvreck pupils are active, fit and energetic pupils. All pupils enjoy home cooked, wholesome food which is cooked by the school’s in-house catering team. Daily surgeries and a visiting doctor ensure that all medical aspects of your child’s life are well catered for in a sympathetic environment.
A Home Away from Home
Parents are an important part of the boarding experience, and are encouraged to telephone and email as well as to visit the school to regularly watch matches and school plays and to take part in form workshops and parent/teacher meetings. Ardvreck boasts exceptional communications between the school and home, including a secure area on the website for parent communication and a mobile ‘Ardvreck App’ for secure access to the school calendar.
If you want to learn more about the benefits of boarding, we can arrange for our current boarding families to share their experiences. We aim to ensure that you and your child are fully informed, confident and excited about the boarding experience before enrolment.
