Ardvreck has three houses: Junior House (7-11), Mac House (boys 11-13) and Erskine House (11-13).

Junior House is in the main building and is run by a dedicated pastoral team including a live in Housemistress and assistant.  All the children in Junior House have their own personal bed area and enjoy the use of comfortable ‘home from home’ sitting rooms in which to play and relax.  Junior House is warm, friendly and cosy and the children are extremely well looked after.  Weekends are busy and sociable but downtime is also valued.  Junior House prides itself on allowing children to be children.

Mac and Erskine are purpose built houses set back from the main school.  We are unique in having these two purpose built boarding houses for 11-13 year olds. Children often comment on how this has helped them prepare for the challenges of senior school life.  Each senior house is run by a Housemaster or Housemistress as well as a live in assistant. Houses are equipped with personal bed and study areas, well- furnished common rooms and kitchens. There are plenty of well-equipped places to relax, play and socialize.  Senior pupils are given the opportunity to develop more independence and responsibility and learn to value and respect the views and needs of others. Weekends are busy and purposeful. Senior pupils have access to a wider range of activities which include: sport, debating, squash, golf and music. Senior pupils have full access to the extensive grounds including the all-weather, tennis courts and astro. The house staff not only have a pastoral duty of care but, along with visiting house tutors, also oversee the children’s academic progress through supervised evening preps as they approach the rigours and demands of the scholarship and Common Entrance examinations.
